Basic Commands / Lead Training

Diesel has some very basic commands, but these do need developing more and learning some more too - he is an intelligent shepherd which will thrive with good clear and concise instructions. He is alittle uncomfortable when you are handling him around his neck/collar, so we are guessing he has been yanked a few times by his collar or maybe smacked a few times with someone holding his collar and he was not able to get away.

He will need to learn recall and how to trust his new owners, as well as "wait" he was nearly getting "wait" in the 90 mins or so we spent with him, and calms down energy wise when he knows he has to listen and work for his treat.

He is not ball orientated but loves praise and food treats. He will go far with the right owner.

Notes on how the dog reacts to dogs:  Althought we have been told Diesel is really good with other dogs - we feel at the moment he would benefit more in being the only dog, and using this to bond with his new owner(s) better, than having to also get to know another dog. We feel that Diesel can be socialised with other dogs and to keep this over time, then introducing another dog into the home in time. So at the moment for the first few months we would suggest a dog free home to start off with.
Notes on how the dog reacts to cats:  We would suggest a cat free home.
How the dog reacts to people in general and strangers:  Diesel is a lovely boy he is alitle reserved when he first meets you - and once he knows you are fine and at no threat to him or anything he is looking after, his energy sours and he loves running around chasing toys, and doing a few tricks for treats. He learns and pretty fast too so he will be alot of fun.
How the dog reacts to children / limitations with children:

Due to Diesel being alittle reserved with new people we would suggest he is rehomed with children 9-12yrs onwards or preferably with no children at all. But children must be large dog savvy and used to being around shepherds.

Grooming experience:   to be confirmed

Current Location of Dog:

Medical History/Current medical issues:

Wormer Due

Transporting/Riding in a car:  No issues - settles down
Assessors Notes:

Diesel is a lovely young chap which will thrive in a new and understanding home. Patience with him is a must, as he does need further training, and he will get all giddy in the beginning, very excitable but will settle down when he knows he has to work for his rewards.

He enjoys food treats, praise and clear instruction, he will need a new owner which will be stern with commands and consistent too.

Overall a lovely shepherd with typical traits as in being alittle uncertain for the first 10/15mins but soon comes around.
